Silence is not golden for many folks, including myself. As a light sleeper, every creak, dog, and/or kid getting out of bed in the middle of the night or gust of wind is enough for me to wake up. That is if I’m able to go to sleep at all. It is true that new technologies such as the Bedtime Fan App allow you to carry a noise machine in your pocket. And when I travel, I definitely lean on those.
But ever since I was in college, and I had five other roommates, I began to love and rely on a fan in the background to drown out, or at least mitigate, the sounds in the immediate area. That is why the SNOOZ White Noise Sound Machine is close to my heart (and bed).
Review of SNOOZ
The one product I currently use in my bedroom is the SNOOZ Sound Machine. I believe it was offered through Huckberry or Bespoke or similar at one point when I purchased it a few years ago (and it’s still working, obviously), but it is now available on Amazon.
One of the immediate benefits versus a traditional fan is the lack of cold air that is blown on you or in the room. What is neat about the product itself, and what really separates itself from the traditional white noise machines, is that the SNOOZ White Noise Sound Machine contains a real fan within the device that produces authentic, natural fan noise. Because of this, there are no looping tracks and it produces a fan noise that is random and high-quality. I know sometimes I’ve tried falling asleep to white noise through a clock or other mechanical device, and in my mind, I can hear the loop stop and start. And if your brain works in a similar vein, that the SNOOZ doesn’t do this is a game-changer in and of itself.
Here is an example of the sound (note, not the highest quality audio, and the sound is set to my specifications):
Additional Benefits of SNOOZ:
- Companion Phone Application that you can use from the bed to adjust the volume
- It’s been pretty durable for me, though granted, I don’t move it around much.
- Fully adjustable tone & volume (10 settings)
- You can rotate the outer shell to adjust the tone of the fan noise to meet your specific needs
- Portable. Easy to move and bring with you.
We know conclusively that sleep is important. And through my own experience, I recommend the SNOOZ White Noise Sound Machine. You can adjust the tone and volume of the fan to your liking, and really, it’s hard to imitate a fan noise, which is why it is cool that the SNOOZ uses a real, internal fan for its sound. That innovation may not be at the level of sending rocket ships to Mars, but for those of us with sleep issues, it’s a small tweak to a product that goes a long way.
